information - Carstensz Flash expedition

Day 2) ARRIVAL IN BALI (DPS) - beach and sunshine

Pick up in the airport by our staff and then a short drive to the Hotel near the beach. The guide – Jakob Urth will give some info about the trip/climb and about the flight to Papua later the same night. Time for the beach ..or relax by the hotel pool.

Our flight to Timika will be at midnight. Arrival in Timika at 06:00AM. -/-/-

Day 3) ARRIVAL IN TIMIKA

Arrival in Timika Airport. Our staff will meet and transfer us to the hotel. Take a rest. Lunch and group meeting.

In Timika we have to go to the immigrations office! Picture and permits stuff. Back to hotel or drive around the city of Timika. We can enjoy our free time and explore the new surroundings. We need to get our body used to the altitude. Overnight at Hotel.

Day4) TIMIKA – CARSTENSZ PYRAMID BC

Drive from the Hotel to the Airport. Helicopter to the Yellow Valley Base Camp (4,300m) Time for some acclimation in Base Camp and adapt to our new home - in the middle of nowhere. The Adventure is on. -/F/A

Day 5) ACCLIMATISATION

Today we rest, eat and train. We are going up to the middle ridge of the mountain for a better acclimatisation - we train all the technical stuff that we need to know. How to use the fixrope.. and what to bring on the summit. It is time to explore the unique nature that surrounds us. We eat and sleep in Base Camp. M/F/A

Day 6) SUMMIT PUSH

We start at midnight to prepare for the summit attempt…Some coffee and a light meal and we are ready to go… We start the trek and climb to the summit at about 02.00am. After walking some hours we will hit the summit ridge and the fix rope. Our route follows the ridge crest with seriously exposure along the way…well, that why we use the ropes! From here it is up to the summit, and if we are very lucky we might see the sun and the beautiful view. Our descent gives us multiple rappels and some easy climbing. We will be on good, clean rock that provides excellent friction even in snow or rain…Papua weather. It will take approximately 9-12 hours for the summit push.

Back in Base Camp we rest and our chef will be ready with food and hot drinks. M/F/A

Day 7) BASE CAMP - TIMIKA

Time to leave the mountain - Heli pickup from Base Camp and direct to Timika. Transfer to our hotel.

We need to be ready at first light and wait for the Heli to arrive. The weather decides if it´s for one hour or all day…..This is adventure on Papua. Back in the hotel - a bath and maybe a well-deserved beer will be the next great move M/-/-/

Day 8) TIMIKA – BALI

Check out from the hotel and flight back to Bali at 11.30 AM. Arrival in Bali at 14.30 PM.

We have some time to explore Timika before we catch a flight back to Bali. If we still have ekstra days left..we have a unique opportunity to experience some of this amazing country and culture. The guide (Jakob Urth) will inform and make a setup

Back on Bali we transfer to our Hotel and is time for some celebration. Dinner by Urth-Adventures -/-/A

Day 9-10) EXTRA DAYS for climbing

At Urth-Adventures we take your climb seriously. If we need more time to acclimatise - we wait. In case of bad weather or helicopter delays - we will wait. Our responsibility and your expectations are keywords in our setup. We will wait for our “Go for the summit” M/F/A (Base Camp)
